Our Mission
& Story

Learning by doing, supporting each other, and building rockets that make Notre Dame proud.

Who We Are

The Team

The Notre Dame Rocketry Team is a student-led project created to give future engineers real, hands-on experience beyond textbook theory. Everything we do is managed and built entirely by students who want to take what they learn in lectures and put it directly into action.

Our members come from many different backgrounds, including aerospace, mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science. By working together to design, build, and test high-powered rockets, we help students develop practical engineering skills while taking on real-world technical challenges.

Student-Led Excellence

Our 20 Student Leads

We are a student-run team that brings textbook concepts into the real world. Our group brings together students from aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science, and other majors across campus. Together, we handle every part of building high-powered rockets—from early sketches on a whiteboard to actual launch days.

Core Goals

Hands-On Engineering Education

We believe the clearest way to learn is by taking on real projects. Students take ownership of their work from initial computer designs to physical building and flight testing, gaining practical experience that carries into their careers.

Continuous Innovation

We constantly look for new technical challenges. Whether we are writing code for custom flight computers, refining altitude control systems, or designing liquid engines, we encourage our members to test new ideas and build smarter designs.

Community STEM Outreach

We enjoy sharing our passion for space and science with local students. Through interactive visits at nearby schools, we help kids see that science and engineering are approachable, fun, and within their reach.
